| Akili Ron Anderson is a lifetime
resident of Washington, DC. He has successfully practiced as a full time visual artist for
more than thirty years. Mr. Anderson and his associates provide for the visual enhancement
needs of cultural, religious and civil institutions. They design, fabricate and install
stained glass windows, sculptural forms, fine art paintings and mosaics. Media services
include still photography, filmmaking, video, computer graphics, special effects and
multi-media presentations. Mr.
Anderson formerly held the position of Artist in Residence for the D.C. Commission on the
Arts and Humanities and was the first chairperson of the Visual Arts Department at the
Duke Ellington School of the Arts. He was chosen to exhibit and perform at the Second
World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC) in Lagos, Nigeria. He has
also had major one-man exhibits at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Gallery of Fine Art at
Howard University and the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corp. Mr. Anderson has also
exhibited nationally and internationally in group shows, primarily as a member of the
"AFRICOBRA" artist collective.
Mr. Anderson has designed theater
sets for the Kennedy Center (Eisenhower Theater), The DC Black Repertory Theater and the
Ira Aldridge Theater at Howard University.
He has received contracts with
